About UWAWPC Performance Program 2025

(May - September Training)

A 19-week program for aspiring athletes looking to excel in water polo. UWAWPC’s Performance Program provides advanced training and personalised coaching over the winter months.

WINTER PERFORMANCE PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

  • 2/3 x blocks of water polo training
  • 2 x Strength and conditioning sessions
  • Integrated specialised goalkeeper training (for goalkeepers)
  • Regular tournament style games on selected Saturdays
  • Sports Science / Sports Medicine, Nutrition and injury prevention education

PERFORMANCE PROGRAM OFFERS:

  • Eligible for selection into National State Championships
  • National Age Group Programs
  • AWL Torpedoes Academy pathway

THE UWAWPC PERFORMANCE TEAM:

  • Qualified Coaches (including current AWL Head Coach Men & Head of UWAWPC Performance: Slobo Macic & AWL players)
  • Sports Science / Sports Medicine (Brendyn Appleby)
  • AWL players taking special positions sessions incl: centre forward/back
  • Goalkeeper Coach (Berk Gezek - former Turkish National & Galatasaray Goalkeeper)
  • Strength & Conditioning (Micky Sivakumar)
  • Injury Prevention (Brett McGhie)
  • Nutrition (Julie Meek)
  • Mindset Coach (Leigh Farnell)

PROPOSED TRAINING TIMES:

Girls:

U15/17/19 - Monday & Wednesday 6pm - 8pm (UWA)

Boys:

U15 - Tuesday 6-8pm (UWA), Friday 6-8pm (UWA)

U17 - Tuesday 6-8pm (UWA), Thursday 6-8pm (UWA)

U19 & Open - Monday/Wednesday/Friday 5:30-7am (PHPC Dive Pool)

Optional for all athletes - directed by coaches - Tuesday & Thursday 5:30-7am (PHPC Dive Pool)

Strength and Conditioning:
UWA Gym Tuesday/Thursday mornings

*Individual 12-month Gym membership available for $107
** Times/pools subject to change
