About UWAWPC Performance Program 2025

(May - September Training)

A 19-week program for aspiring athletes looking to excel in water polo. UWAWPC’s Performance Program provides advanced training and personalised coaching over the winter months.

WINTER PERFORMANCE PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

  • 3 x Swim sessions per week
  • 2 x Strength and conditioning sessions
  • 2 x blocks of water polo training
  • Integrated specialised goalkeeper training (for goalkeepers)
  • Regular tournament style games on selected Saturday
  • Nutrition and injury prevention education

PERFORMANCE PROGRAM OFFERS:

  • Eligible for selection into National State Championships
  • National Age Group Programs
  • AWL Torpedoes Academy pathway

THE UWAWPC PERFORMANCE TEAM:

  • Qualified Coaches (including current AWL Head Coach Men: Slobo Macic & Head Coach Women: Ray Mayers & AWL players)
  • AWL players taking special positions sessions incl: centre forward/back
  • Goalkeeper Coach (Berk Gezek - former Turkish National & Galatasaray Goalkeeper)
  • Strength & Conditioning (Micky Sivakumar)
  • Injury Prevention (Brett McGhie)
  • Nutrition (Julie Meek)

PROPOSED TRAINING TIMES:

Girls: U15/17/19 Monday & Wednesday 5pm - 7pm (UWA)

Boys: U15/17/19 Tuesday & Thursday 6pm - 8pm (UWA + Dive Pool HPC)

Swimming: Mon/Wed/Fri: 5.45-7.00am (UWA)

Strength and Conditioning:
UWA Gym Tuesday/Thursday

*Individual 12-month Gym membership available for $107
** Times/pools subject to change

  • No discount for missed sessions
  • No training over July school holidays
